NASH Rocks League reigning champions Kington moved clear of the chasing group at the top of the table following their excellent three-shot away win over Hereford.
In a low-scoring match, Hereford won three of the five rinks but the Kington rink skipped by Keith Edwards won by 11 shots which proved to be decisive.
Dot Herbert's rink were the best winners for Hereford, winning by seven shots, but it was not enough to carry the match, as the other winning rinks were each held to a single-shot win by their Kington opponents.
Previously, Hereford suffered a defeat at St Martin's. The home club lost on only one rink where Clive Benson posted a 32-19 win for Hereford. However, St Martin's outscored Hereford on all the other rinks with the 14-shot win for that skipped by John Gill being the best of the day.
St Martin's second game of the week against Weobley ended in a draw when the match was abandoned as some players were distressed by the oppressive afternoon heat.
Results: Hereford 82, Kington 85; St Martin's 93, Hereford 72; Weobley v St Martin's - match drawn.
