HEREFORDSHIRE visited Hanborough BC for a friendly match against Oxfordshire and were defeated by 153-106, winning on only two rinks.
The rink skipped by David White gained Herefordshire's best result with three ends of four shots and a five contributing to a comfortable 29-16 win with all rink members playing well.
Jack Gray's rink produced the other success, fighting back from 14-6 down at the half-way stage to 17-17 after 18 ends before picking up seven shots for a 24-17 victory against the Oxfordshire president's rink.
Herefordshire president Harry Millichamp had an inspired day, well supported by Hubert Wall and Alec Carter who also played excellent bowls in securing this win.
Mike Hoffman skipped his rink to a 13-12 lead after 15 ends, but lost the next five ends to finally go down 21-15, and the rink skipped by Don Pugh led 13-9 after 11 ends before their opponents scored 18 shots in eight ends to finally win 29-14.
Frank Harwood's rink were within five at 17-12 down after 11 ends, but the Oxfordshire rink won eight of the remaining ends for a 36-14 success, and the highest losing rink was skipped by Mansell Havard, who was down 19-8 after 13 ends and finally lost 34-10.
