BOULDERS sited near the entrance of the Leominster Priory grounds prevented cars from encroaching on the churchyard but led to other problems.
Pieces of rock have been repeatedly lobbed at church windows by vandals.
"Those rocks have been a bone of contention ever since we put them there - someone has been chipping away at them," Councillor Molly Cooke told a meeting.
The boulders were put in place inside the south gate of the Priory after an ancient box tomb was smashed by a car and the accident resulted in £2,000 worth of repairs to the monument.
Councillors agreed to consult church officials about replacing the boulders with something else, such as flower tubs.
