A GOOD Samaritan from Putley has come to the aid of a young Ukrainian woman who became a victim of crime in Leominster.
The Ukrainian, a fruit picker, was distraught after her handbag was stolen at a car boot sale at the Brightwell's auction site.
Police said the bag contained hundreds of pounds, the owner's passport and her ticket home and appealed for information.
The Putley villager, who did not wish to be named, said she hoped to be able to give up to £200 to the young woman and hoped other people might also help a young person in distress. The villager said: "I've worked in Eastern Europe and I know that girl needs that money"
"It's a terrible thing to have happened to her - let's hope that when she gets back to her country this awful thing will be overcome by something good."
The Hereford Times passed on the offer of help to the police.
