SUMMER EVENING - The Edwyn Ralph PCC tried something different to raise funds for the church when it held its Summer Evening at St Michael's on Sunday, June 12, starting at 4pm. There were two marquees one for teas and the other for a book stall, a plant stall and Vera Powell with the raffle. Everyone thought buffet teas were wonderful with as much as one could eat. Robert Turner gave an informative tour of the medieval church and many people remarked on how much they noticed and learned. Peter Lewis conducted walks around the moat, the site of the village before the Black Death and Gerry Kennedy showed an interesting display of objects he had found when metal detecting at the nearby Pound Farm, the earliest from the 15th century. All declared that the event was a wonderful occasion despite a rather cool wind. The PCC greatfully thanks all who helped and supported this successful fund raising evening.
