Bishopstone's new soap box BRM had an early mishap. Driven by Ian Astley, it successfully negotiated all the chicanes down the 660 metre course until the last one when the inside front wheel hit a ground marker and spun it off the track. The winner was G-Race Team from Bury St. Edmunds (sponsored by Vauxhall) in a time of 1 minute 11 seconds, second was South Hereford Audi with 1 minute 13 seconds and BRM came third. Barry Megson driving the Bishy Boys soap box had success by winning the heavyweights (soap boxes not allowed to compete in the main event because they were over the 100 kilos weight limit) with a winning aggregated time of 2 minutes 33 seconds. Second were Frantic Fettlers from Belmont with 2 minutes and 57 seconds.
