FATHER and son racing drivers Roger and Scott Moran, from Orleton, crossed the Scottish border last weekend to contest two rounds of the Nicholson McLaren British Hill Climb Championship at Doune.
Thunder storms delayed the start but Scott was soon on the pace, racing over the wet 1,477-yards track in 43.02 seconds for third in the morning run-off. Roger took sixth with 43.83.
Then Roger put in a determined effort to take third in the afternoon session, stepping the clocks at 38.80. Scott was eighth on 40.45, bringing his seasons points tally to 44 and moving up to eighth in the series standings.
Nicholson McLaren British Hill Climb Championship positions after 16 rounds: 1 Martin Groves (Wendlebury) 157pts, 2 Roger Moran (Orleton) 104, 3 Willem Toet (Brackley) 94.
