Ledbury lost this crucial Midlands Three West (South) league match despite dominating most of the action.
SHIPSTON 19PTS, LEDBURY 10PTS
Shipston started the better of the sides and within ten minutes had scored two tries to take a 12-0 lead.
Ledbury quickly got into the game and constantly attacked the Shipston line. After some intense pressure centre Sam Scholefield weaved his way over for a try. A Barrett Price conversion reduced the deficit to 12-7.
Ledbury continued to press and on the stroke of half-time a lovely penalty from Barrett Price made it 12-10.
The second half began with Ledbury in the ascendancy but try as they did they couldn't cross the Shipston line. Kieram Hallam and Olly Kaye both made several breaks but last-ditch tackles kept them out for almost an entire half.
Ledbury did everything but score and to make matters worse, Shipston stole a try to go 19-10 up.
Shipston's defence then hung on as they earned a crucial win.
Ledbury suffered their own misfortune this week. Every time the flow of attacking play got under way, sloppy mistakes such as losing a line-out, throwing a bad pass or dropping the ball, were made.
Ledbury's first XV lack the cutting edge and that is why they find themselves at the bottom of the league.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury RFC play Old Yardleians at home in the league. Kick-off is at 2.30pm and all support will be greatly appreciated.
