A LATE goal by man-of-the-match Gareth Davis grabbed Ledbury Town a deserved West Midlands Premier Division victory over local rivals Wellington on Tuesday night.
WELLINGTON 0, LEDBURY TOWN 1
This win extended Ledbury's unbeaten run to nine matches and took them to third place in the league table with three games in hand on the teams above.
Ledbury, the only unbeaten side in the league, made a steady start to the Wellington game with both defences in charge in the first half and neither goalkeeper tested.
Ledbury upped the pace after the interval and Robbie Colwell, Alex Volosonous and the impressive Gareth Davis all went close. With a draw looking likely up popped Gareth Davis to chip the ball over the Wellington keeper to collect the three points.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury Town visit Wolverhampton Casuals (2.45pm) in the league. A coach leaves the New Street ground at 12.30pm.
On Tuesday evening (October 5) Ledbury Town have another local derby league game when they visit Kington Town (7.45pm).
