Ledbury Town maintained their unbeaten West Midland Premier Division record with a scoreless draw against a determined Gornal Athletic side at New Street on Saturday.
LEDBURY TOWN 0, GORNAL ATHLETIC 0
The home side created very few scoring chances in the first half but man-of-the-match goalkeeper Craig Humphries had to make two outstanding saves as Gornal pressed for an opener.
In the second half the swirling wind caused both teams problems and chances were at a premium.
The closest Ledbury came to scoring was when Neil Gardener hit a superb shot from 20 yards which beat the keeper but a defender cleared off the line.
Ledbury's Clueit, Green and Olezak were outstanding in the over-worked home defence and goalkeeper Humphries performed heroics to keep his sixth clean sheet.
LEDBURY TOWN 2, WESTFIELDS 2
(Westfields won 5-4 on penalties)
LEDBURY entertained Travel Factory Alliance high-flyers Westfields in the HFA Senior Challenge Cup on Wednesday evening and lost on penalties.
With Ledbury goalkeeper Humphries again in top form, Westfields were denied until the 45th minute when Craddock opened the scoring for the visitors.
Within minutes of the restart Ledbury were level when Gareth Davies headed home and Robbie Colwell put them ahead with his 11th goal of the season.
A late own goal tied the scores at 2-2 and with no extra time available, the teams went straight to penalties.
