Ledbury Town returned to league action after a three-week break when they travelled to West Midlands League premier division basement-side Coseley Town.
COSELEY TOWN 1, LEDBURY TOWN 6
Ledbury started very brightly and opened the scoring after six minutes when Robbie Colwell crossed for Lee Hooper to drill home from eight yards.
Coseley hit the crossbar two minutes later and then levelled the score on 17 minutes when Dave McKenzie slotted home from six yards.
Ledbury then upped the tempo and regained the lead after 24 minutes when Matt Gray's perfect cross found Lee Hooper, he rose majestically to head home with style.
Ledbury extended their lead on 36 minutes when leading scorer Robbie Colwell rifled the ball home from ten yards to make it 3-1 at the half-time break.
In the second half Ledbury remained very much on top and on 56 minutes a flighted ball into the box was flicked on by Gareth Davis and volleyed home from 15 yards by Steve Olchek.
Three minutes later Gareth Davis made it five after twisting and turning the home defence inside out.
Ledbury made three substitutions and gave Tom Smith his debut in goal.
The rout was completed on 64 minutes when Lee Hooper wrong-footed the home defence when back-heeling the ball into the path of Robbie Colwell, who smashed the ball home to make it 6-1 and a perfect start to the new year.
Tomorrow (Saturday) fifth-placed Ledbury Town entertain third-placed Shawbury United (2.45pm) at New Street in the West Midlands premier division.
Ledbury Town Reserves are also at home and play Lads Club in the Hereford Times Herefordshire League premier division.
