Ledbury Town returned to winning ways in the West Midlands premier division against Wednesfield at Amos Lane on Saturday.
WEDNESFIELD 2, LEDBURY TOWN 5
In a topsy turvy first half Ledbury opened the scoring when Chris Palmer sent Lee Hooper clear to chip the advancing keeper on 12 minutes. Five minutes later Ledbury were caught napping when Zachary Jackson drilled a quickly taken free-kick into the net from 20 yards.
On 34 minutes Robbie Colwell fed Gareth Davis on the edge of the area and he powered the ball home past Lee Cooke in the Wednesfield goal. Right on the stroke of half-time, a well-worked move by Wednesfield saw Adam Pearce finish with style to level the scores.
The second-half saw Ledbury pin Wednesfield back in their own half with the outstanding Stuart Hall, in the Ledbury midfield, orchestrating every move. With half an hour remaining a clever back-heel by Robbie Colwell to Lee Hooper in the box saw the latter round the keeper and slot the ball home from six yards.
Moments later Neil Gardiner's pin-point cross found Robbie Colwell, who made no mistake from eight yards out. Colwell then completed the rout when he turned and raced clear from the defence to blast the ball home from ten yards.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury face Pelsall Villa at New Street, kick-off 2.45pm.
