AFTER three consecutive defeats, Ledbury needed to work hard to take the three West Midlands premier division points from a spirited Ettingshall side.
LEDBURY TOWN 2, ETTINGSHALL HOLY TRINITY 1
The opening 45 minutes of play saw each side matching one another in every department with very few chances being created and the score remained 0-0.
The second half began in similar fashion until the 73rd minute when high-riding Ledbury finally broke the deadlock. A long throw-in from full-back Oliver Thompson was flicked on by Steve Olczak and Lee Hooper arrived at the far post to volley home for six yards.
The advantage was short-lived and two minutes later the visitors equalised. A swift attacking move involving McKenna and Jacques resulted in Jamie Stainer finding himself with space in Town's penalty box and he rifled the ball home from 12 yards.
The game appeared to be heading for a draw until Ledbury were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute. A precise cross from Lee Clueit was met with a powerful header by Martin Punt but Gavin Jones in the Ettingshall goal superbly palmed the ball away.
Top scorer Robbie Colwell pounced on the loose ball but his well-struck shot was smothered at the second attempt by defender Dean Hubbarb, but with the use of his hands. He was subsequently shown the red card and Ledbury were awarded a penalty.
With virtually the last kick of the game, up stepped Robbie Colwell to power the ball home and give Ledbury a much-needed victory.
