Ledbury'S push for a third place finish in the West Midlands premier division was boosted by a narrow victory over an in-form Bustleholme on Saturday.
LEDBURY TOWN 3, BUSTLEHOLME 2
The visitors' physical approach didn't deter Ledbury from collecting the three points. Bustleholme took the lead on 23 minutes against the run of play when Adam Wattley's harmless cross was deflected past Craig Humphries in the Ledbury goal.
This setback spurred Ledbury on and they deservedly drew level five minutes later when Robbie Colwell's cross was superbly met at the far post with a powerful header from Sean McKeon.
The goal of the game came just before half-time when Stuart Hall collected the ball in midfield and waltzed his way through three tackles before picking his spot from 16 yards out.
Bustleholme's physical approach increased in the second-half and it was no surprise when Ledbury were awarded a penalty after Dave Skipp was hauled down in the box. Up stepped Robbie Colwell to send the keeper the wrong way and give Ledbury a two-goal lead.
The visitors reduced the arrears with 15 minutes remaining from a corner, when centre-back Danny Mason out-jumped the home defence to head the ball home.
Ledbury hung on for victory with a disciplined defensive display and two top-drawer saves from Humphries.
Ledbury Town's final home league match of the season against Coseley Town was postponed on Tuesday evening after the Dudley-based visitors' transport broke down on the way to the New Street ground.
The proposed new date for the fixture is on Tuesday (May 10), kick-off 7.45pm
Tomorrow (Saturday), Ledbury Town travel to second-placed Market Drayton Town, kick-off 2.45pm. A coach will be leaving New Street at 11.30am.
Ledbury are still waiting for confirmation of their premier division league cup final arrangements.
They meet the winners of the semi-final clash between Gornal Athletic and Tipton Town, who play their second-leg tie on Tuesday (May 10).
The final is likely to be played on May 12 or May 18 at Ludlow Town FC.
