HEREFORDSHIRE is displaying its generosity again as fund-raising gets into full swing for Barrs Court School's Hydrosense Appeal.

Throughout the county, and beyond, people have been inspired by the appeal and are responding to the very real need for a hydrotherapy pool and associated facilities.

There have been several substantial donations in recent weeks and one of the biggest boosts to date has been a donation of £5,000 from local charity, The Beaumont Trust.

In Worcester, Learning and Skills Council (LSC) staff are dedicating themselves to raising £4,000 and recently announced they were quarter of the way there. Since campaigning started, staff have come up with a range of fund-raisers, including a team detox, a St George's Day cream tea and a 'tat' auction, where the most unwanted possessions were sold off to the highest bidders.

"Barrs Court School is an invaluable facility for the county," said Alan Curless, LSC executive director. "We are delighted to support the appeal and can't wait until it reaches the target so that pupils can enjoy such a necessary facility."

The appeal has been further boosted with a £1,500 cheque from the Golden Valley Country Club, which held a very successful country and western evening.

The business community, too, is providing invaluable support.

Tony Killeen, managing director of allpay.net has provided £3,000-worth of sponsorship for next week's Round Table ball at Hampton Court, all the proceeds from which will go to Hydrosense. Meanwhile staff at Marks and Spencer, in High Town, Hereford, voted recently to make Barrs Court's Hydrosense Appeal their charity for the year.
