Ledbury Seconds travelled to Woolhope last Saturday and ran out comfortable winners by 90 runs.
WOOLHOPE V LEDBURY II
Ledbury stand-in skipper Richie Orders lost the toss and was asked to bat on a wicket with no pace and very little bounce. After the early loss of Wybraniec, Stu Evans (13) and Jamie Cooper (21) consolidated, but when they were both out to R Gibb, Ledbury collapsed to 39-5 after losing two more quick wickets.
Kevin Hathaway (19) was joined by James Brighton and the pair got Ledbury back in the game taking the score to 87.
Griffiths fell cheaply but Martin Punt, in his first game of the season after injury, helped Brighton, who was not scoring freely, to take the game away from Woolhope.
The eighth wicket pair added 75 before Brighton was bowled by one that kept low for a fine 62. In search of his own 50, Martin Punt was out with two balls of the innings left for a valuable 48 as Ledbury closed on 183.
Karl Foskett carried on from where he had left off the previous week, gaining six wickets against the same opposition, when he dismissed opener Gibb for nought.
It was then over to Ritchie Orders as the skipper revelled in the responsibility and began to cause the Woolhope batsmen all sorts of trouble, soon claiming three quick wickets leaving the home side on 42-4.
There was no let-up at the other end when Richard Griffiths was introduced and he was soon too in the wickets and Woolhope were in deep trouble at 73-8 when Orders claimed his fifth wicket.
It was left to Griffiths to claim the last two wickets, giving him fine figures of 4-29, but the star was Orders, who claimed his maiden five-wicket haul finishing with 5-35 as Woolhope were all out for 93 giving Ledbury 19 points.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Ledbury entertain top of the table Kington and will be aiming for a fourth successive victory.
