An active fundraiser has received an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Denys Gueroult, 77, from Whitbourne, was given the award for services to the community.
A keen fundraiser for St Michael's Hospice, Mr Gueroult is also member of the local garden society and amateur dramatic group.
He regularly helps organise projects and activities for the church and school.
"I do a certain amount of small works for the community, but I don't really think I deserve an MBE for it," said Mr Gueroult. Apparently seven or eight people nominated me, so that's very nice to know."
Former editor of the BBC Radio 3 magazine, Mr Gueroult moved from London 21 years ago.
