Music and sporting demonstrations provided the entertainment at the renaming of Bromyard's playing fields.
More than 200 people attended the event on Saturday (June 11), when the site was renamed the Kempson Fields, after donor Lucy Kempson.
Mayor Gill Churchill stepped in to perform the ceremony in place of actor Corin Redgrave, Miss Kempson's cousin, who is recovering from a heart attack.
The Queen Elizabeth High School Steel Band provided the music, while youth rugby and football teams demonstrated their skills.
Scouts, Brownies and the Conquest youth group also joined the action.
"It was a lovely day and a really successful event," said town clerk Mike Cresswell.
The event marked the beginning of a week of activities, including a teddy bears' picnic, St Peter's School fete and a town quiz.
Events continue with a football tournament at the Bromyard Centre tomorrow (Saturday), at 10am.
