LEDBURY and District Tourist Association is backing the formation of one body to handle all aspects of tourism in the county.
The in-principle decision was taken at a meeting in The Talbot hotel on Tuesday.
If all goes to plan, a Destination Management Partnership, or DMP, could be in place for Herefordshire by April.
Herefordshire Council would form half of the new body and the other half would be made up from the private sector.
The Government is supporting the formation of DMPs, to bring tourist requirements such as accommodation, activities, attractions, promotions, signposting and even parks under one umbrella.
Because of Government support, DMPs are more likely to draw in additional funding from the EU and bodies like Advantage West Midlands.
