LUCTONIANS first XV will have a new man at the helm next season.
Richard Henwood, who has previously captained Plymouth Albion, was elected at the club's annual meeting on Tuesday to take over from Steve Saint. Stuart Bemand will be vice-captain.
Members heard that the season had been a successful one with the first XV finishing fifth in Midlands One and winning the North Midlands Cup. The club's second XV won the Radbourne Floodlit Cup and the colts won the North Midlands Plate Competition.
All of the main officers were re-elected: chairman, Simon Children; vice-chairman, Charles Turner; treasurer, Richard Powell; secretary, Huw Davies.
There was just one change in the directors of the sub-committees where David Burke becomes director of corporate relations and sponsorship.
David Thomas, director of club development, reported on progress in extending and renovating the clubhouse. Fund raising was underway, he said, and a £100,000 loan had been secured from the RFU. The new changing rooms were scheduled to be ready for the start of the 2006/2007 season.
