CHURCH RECITAL - An evening recital by Brian Davies playing his harp and Howard Marshall on violin will be performed at St Mary's Church in Pilleth, Whitton on Wednesday, June 22, at 7.30pm. KINSHAM FETE - The annual Kinsham Fete is on Saturday, June 18, at Kinsham Court by kind permission from Mrs Wood. The fun starts at 2.30pm, and admission is £1 with under 12's free. VE-DAY - Evenjobb villagers are turning back the clock to 1945 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of VE-Day on Saturday. The celebrations start at 3pm, and people are encouraged to dress in 1940s clothes or red, white and blue. There will be memorabilia on display and activities will include children's races stalls, football, rounders, teas, vintage vehicles, quiz and many competitions. At 5pm, there will be a street party in Orchard View. Later in the evening at 7pm, there is a live swing band with a hog roast and a bar is applied for. There is a special attraction for children. They are invited to make a wartime cake using ingredients that were available during the war. It is an egg-less sponge. Bring your cake for judging at 3pm, and there will be prizes. CHURCH SERVICES - The traditional Anglican Church at 7 Hereford Street in Presteigne have Sung Eucharist every Sunday and Feast Days at 10am.

EAST RADNOR FORUM - The forum has been set up to tackle any problems that that council can't. Next Wednesday they will be fundraising by organising a forum about transport at the Royal British Legion Club in Hereford Street. At 3pm all the local bus companies are sending a representative to the forum. After a buffet the forum will be open to the public at 7pm. People are invited to ask any questions on our local transport problems and suggestions will be welcome. GARDENING CLUB - Presteigne Gardening Club are organising a trip to Erdig Hall near Wrexham. The National Trust House is a must to see and can be booked by telephoning Peggy Fraser-Scott on 01544 260257. The trip will be next Monday and will cost £12, which includes the coach, entrance to the hall and a tour.

SURGERY CLOSED - The surgery will be closed from 1pm until 4pm on Thursday, June 23, for essential training for GPs and all staff. The answer machine will be on for all emergency calls where instructions will be given.

ST MICHAEL'S CHURCH, DISCOED - Little Rumba plus Peter Falkner will be performing a Midsummer Celebration with a classy three-piece band playing moody, melancholy East European and South American music plus jazzy piano virtuoso Peter Falkner at St Michael's Church, Discoed next Tuesday at 7.30pm.
