FARMERS MARKET -The June Knighton Farmers and Community Market will be in Knighton Drill Hall on Saturday June 25 from 10am to 1pm. The usual range of locally grown produce an locally manufactured items will be on sale, as well as the Traidcraft stall, refreshments, and local voluntary organisations.
Please note the change of venue. The July market on Saturday, July 23 will be back at the usual venue, Knighton Community Centre.
MACMILLAN CANCER RELIEF - The Macmillan Mile on May 24 raised the splendid sum of £2,314 for Macmillan Cancer Relief, and the Spring Sale on June 4 brought in a further £373.
Winners in the raffle at the spring sale were: Paul Stephens, Gwen Evans, Tom Kimpton, Brenda Steadman, Mrs Boast, Mona Swanson, Anne Jones and Liz Reynolds.
The organisers thank everyone who helped to organise these two events, and those who supported them with such outstanding generosity.
HOSPITAL FRIENDS - Knighton Hospital League of Friends will hold their annual general meeting in the seminar room at Knighton Hospital at 7pm next Monday.
Members of the public are invited to attend.
STOWE AND STANAGE WI - The June meeting of Stowe and Stanage WI was held at the Sir Francis Edwards Centre under the chairmanship of Mrs M. Brick. The President began by congratulating those involved in the recent County Show, where Stowe and Stanage had taken second place overall. The county newsletter contained details of several trips planned for the summer, so hopefully Stowe and Stanage members will be going on some of them, plus members' own outing in August to Hampton Court Gardens.
Congratulations were also due to the quiz team which had won second place this year.
The Wales Council for Voluntary Action had written offering help with information and grants etc available should Stowe and Stanage take part in any community projects.
Guest speaker was Miss Liz Phillips who runs a florist's shop at Rhayader. She showed us how to attempt three simple arrangements and gave members several tips including - always put your flowers in hot water.
The meeting ended with a social time and the discussion of Stowe and Stanage's entry for the Knighton Show.
KNUCKLAS BAPTIST CHURCH - Knucklas Baptist church held a special 80th anniversary service which was well attended by members of other churches in the area. The deacons of the church wish to thank everyone who helped to organise this service, and those whose support helped to make it such a success.
Mr George Linaker will lead the worship this Sunday at 6.30pm, and Dr David Wilson will preach at the service on June 26, which will also be at 6.30pm.
CHAMBER OF TRADE - At their June meeting members of Knighton Chamber of Trade agreed to repeat last year's successful voucher scheme this Christmas. Under the scheme anyone spending £100 at member businesses was entitled to a £10 voucher.
"Businesses must be members of the Chamber of Trade to take part in the scheme," said a spokesman. for the Chamber. "But new members who join now will be eligible."

Annual Meeting
The annual general meeting of Knighton Chamber of Trade will be on Tuesday July 5 at 7.30pm at The Chesnuts in Station Road.
FAIRTRADE INITIATIVE - Knighton Fairtrade Town Initiative would like to say a big thank you to all its customers.
"You will be pleased to know that we are one of Traidcraft's top selling Fair Traders," said a spokesperson for the Initiative "The stall continues at the Farmer's Market on the fourth Saturday of the month in the Community Centre along with a Fairtrade cafe. The town's shops are also selling more and more Fairtrade items. We are well on our way to achieving Fairtrade Town Status."
