KRIS Jones (Burghill Valley) produced an outstanding second round of four-under-par 67, just one stroke off the course record, to force a play-off in the Shropshire and Herefordshire Under-21 Championships at Mile End, Oswestry, and then lifted the trophy at the sixth extra hole.
Jones carded a two-over-par 73 in the morning round but lifted himself into contention with his superb afternoon round to finish on 140, the same mark as Sam Breakes (Hawkstone) and Andrew Smith (Oswestry).
All three players played the four-hole medal play-off in level par, but Jones birdied the second hole of the sudden death to become the twin counties youths' champion.
Ben Synnock (Hereford) finished seventh with 145 (73,72) and Matthew Davies (Kington) 12th on 147 (75,72).
