THE Ross Ladies B team continued their successful season competing in the Hereford and Worcester Division 4 league with a convincing home victory against the Woolhope Ladies A team.
Both Ross pairings Gaynor Raine/Linda Davies and Sue Humble/ Sue Cotterell were in fine form.
Surprisingly the team were subjected to a whitewash defeat in their next match when they visited the Goodrich A team.
Better news though for the Ladies A Team playing in Division 2 when they entertained Cutnall Green ladies. With Sarah Drake/Ellie Vicary 6-4, 6-4 and 6-0, 6-2 and Sue Meek/Margaret Phillips 6-1, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-1 being undefeated in the match and Rosie Farr/ Jane Pepperell 6-2, 6-1 winning one of their matches, this meant a convincing 5 points to 1 win for the Ross Ladies.
It was a similar story for Ross Men's A team in Division 1 at home to the Stourbridge Club B team. Both Josh Gilmour/Chris Friend 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 7-5 and Neil/Alan Meek 6-2, 6-0 and 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 were undefeated in the match. While Jamie Farr/Phil Broomhead battled hard with both their matches going to three sets ultimately they finished second best in both but the 4-2 victory for Ross was still a very satisfactory result.
The Men's B team playing in Division 5 visited Ludlow Castle for the first time and neither of the Ross pairings Charlie Robins/Dave Warwick and Jim Wilkinson/Keith Ray were able to compete effectively with the home club's No 1 pair who won both matches in straight sets. But with wins for Robins and Warwick 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 and Wilkinson and Ray 6-4, 7-5 against the No 2 pair, the losing 3-2 draw for Ross was overall a fair result.
