CHRISTINE Starnes is out to make an impression fronting up for Peterchurch police.

Christine is the first front counter clerk appointed to the new Peterchurch police station. When the beat managers and community support officer who patrol the Golden Valley are out and about, Christine is back at base as their public face - a first point of contact for the queries and crime reports that dictate the team's day-to-day duties.

But there is plenty Christine can do too. She is qualified to offer all kinds of police advice from her counter or deal with document production orders and lost property.

Christine swapped life in London for Peterchurch two years ago. She spent the past month at Hereford central police station preparing for her new role.

Christine's counter opened on Monday for a 10am-2pm shift that's repeated on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

On Thursdays Christine is at the station from 4pm-8pm.
