A STAINED-GLASS window in memory of a former head teacher was dedicated at Lea Primary School on Monday.
The Bishop of Hereford, the Rt Rev Anthony Priddis, led the service of dedication of the window, commissioned by the school governers in memory of Miss Gladys Davies, head teacher at the school before the Second World War, who died about three years ago in her late 80s.
Miss Davies, who spent her last years at Ross Court retirement home at Ross-on-Wye, left a substantial sum of money to the church and the 76-pupil school at Lea.
Chairman of governors Margaret Watson said: "There are long, vertical windows at either end of the school hall.
"The stained-glass window is of three panes, and shows a tree growing and spreading its branches, depicting a child's development through life.
"In soft greens, amber browns and purple tints, it has been designed by Nicola Hopwood, of Brockhampton."
