A SCHEME to build five homes on Ledbury's Secret Garden as a 'car-free scheme' goes before Herefordshire Council planners on Wednesday.
The plan, put forward by developer Richard Harper and architect Peter Stapleton, is for people who wish to only use trains, buses and bicycles to get about. There will be no provision for car parking.
The Secret's Garden's glasshouse would be demolished as a site for the new dwellings. The car-free nature of the development could be maintained with the provision of bus passes and bike racks for the people who move in.
Ledbury Town Council has objected to the scheme on the grounds that it is a backland development of a site with access difficulties.
There have also been six letters of objection.
