British Telecom is proposing to close down the telephone box in Orchard Lane saying it is not used enough.
Ledbury Town Council has been asked for its views, although BT is yet to supply statistics on the use of the facility.
The company says that it is one of seven telephone boxes in the Ledbury area.
Speaking at last week's council meeting in the Market House, Coun Noel Roberts said: "We should be against any cutback in amenities in this town."
Coun Jo Cooper said BT should be told of the redevelopment of Leadon Bank, close to the box, which could boost its use. A letter will be sent to BT to this effect.
