Herefordshire Coun-cil is to be asked to adopt, restore and maintain the access road to Ledbury Recreation Ground.
Ledbury Town Council, which owns the Recrea-tion Ground but not the road, is to ask businesses along the badly potholed highway to put pen to paper and formally request Herefordshire Council take it on.
Herefordshire Council denies that it has any legal obligation to repair the unadopted road, although the council-owned Youth Centre is one of the major buildings that fronts it.
If the road is to be brought up to scratch, then properties fronting it would be asked to bear the cost, up to £50,000.
The town council hopes much of that will come down to Herefordshire Council, as the youth centre owner.
The town council is concerned about the danger of accidents because of the state of the road.
