THE inquest into the death of Rachel Whitear will not be re-opened.
Rachel, 21, was found dead from a suspected heroin overdose in a house in Exmouth, Devon in May 2000.
No post mortem was carried out at the time of the death and the inquest resulted in an open verdict.
It prompted her parents, Mick and Pauline Holcroft, of Ledbury, to issue a formal complaint about how Devon and Cornwall Police handled the case. An investigation was then launched by Wiltshire Police.
However, Dr Elizabeth Earland, coroner for Exeter and Greater Devon, said this week that a re-opening of the inquest would not be ordered. She declined to comment on the reasons for the decision.
