HEREFORD United director of football Graham Turner has made offers to four players as he gets his re-building programme underway for next season.
The Bulls chief is waiting to hear from a central defender, a left-back, a wide right player and a central midfielder, two of whom have been playing in the Nationwide Conference and two in the Football League.
"I am also looking for another goalkeeper and another striker, plus other young players," said Turner. "But we are still not sure what the position will be in the Conference about transfer windows."
Other leagues may be forced to follow the Premiership and European model which restricts transfer dealing to January after an August deadline.
With midfielder Craig Stanley expected to re-sign today (Thursday), Turner has lost just two of the players who were offered terms - Mark Robinson, who has moved to Stockport, and Andy Tretton, who has joined Conference rivals Accrington Stanley on a two-year deal.
"Andy Tretton has done well for us but he did miss about half of the last two seasons with injury," said Turner. "There is also the complication of his university course in Manchester. We wish him well."
Danny Williams, who was released at the end of last season, has joined Stevenage Borough.
Turner has now arranged pre-season friendlies at Ludlow Town on Monday, July 25 and at Aberystwyth on Tuesday, August 2, in addition to a visit from Notts County on Saturday, July 30. He is still hoping to slot in one more away game in the pre-season programme.
