ABBEYDORE GUILD - On June 2 the members organised an impromptu tea party at Caemain the home of Mrs. Ann Pontin. £250 was raised for the Acorns Children's Hospice.
TRAIDCRAFT - There is a chance to purchase goods which are sold at a fair price on Saturday in St. Michael's Hall 10am - 12noon.
COFFEE MORNING - Also onSaturday but this time at Brooms Cottage Wormbridge by kind permission of Mrs. Hazel Lucken, is a coffee morning in aid of the Cancer Unit at Cheltenham and starts at 10.30am. £1 entrance fee, cakes and bric-a-brac for sale.
DORE ABBEY - On Sunday June 12 at 5.30pm is a concert to be given by Fairfield High School Orchestra, instrumental and vocal ensembles, and soloists. Adults £4 children free. Tickets can be abtained from 01981 570251, Fairfield School, or on the door.
LADIES FELLOWSHIP - At the June meeting members will enjoy a trip to Wyevale leaving the Temple Bar at 10.30am. not 11am as originally planned, returning about 2pm.
PONTRILAS WI - In the Memorial Hall next Tuesday at 7.30pm members will be told about the Plight of the Philippine Children and also make arrangements for the joint Coffee morning to be held in July with the members of the local branch of the British Legion to raise funds for the British Legion Home and Crack Cancer.
OPEN GARDEN - Abbey Dore Court Gardens will be open on next Wednesday from 11am - 5pm in aid of the Royal Horticultural Society. Entrance to the garden will be £4, coffee, wine, food and plants can be purchased.
MEMORIAL HALL - At the recent annual meeting it was agreed that a continuing programme of upgrading and maintenance would need to be undertaken over the next two years.
The cost of this work will be substantial and grant aid will be sought to cover some of the cost. An open meeting will be held on Tuesday July 26 at 7.30pm to discuss ways in which local people can contribute. Anyone who would like to come along will be very welcome. In the meantime our first fundraising event will be a Bingo Night on Friday July 8 at 7.30pm. Also at the meeting a new committee was appointed Carol Jenkins (Chairman) John Boileau (Vice Chairman) Ray Harris (Treasurer). Mr. Robert Watts continues as Booking Secretary. A letter of proposal was received suggesting the appointment of Mr John Middle as Honorary President, since he has served on the Hall Committee for 30 years and this was welcomed by the committee. Unfortunately the Secretary has resigned due to other commitments and a new Secretary was not appointed.
