WEATHER played a major part in the Flint & Cook Marches League Division 1 when the games at Monmouth, Glangr-wyney and Talgarth all fell victim to the wet conditions.
With the rain largely holding off on the Herefordshire side of the border, Garnons and Wellington both took advantage to record their second victories of the season.
Garnons, who had been dismissed for just 97 at Wormelow the previous week, passed that score without loss on their way to 246-4 against visiting Canon Frome.
Alan Jones (48) and skipper Jon Andrews (45) took the total to 99 before both fell in consecutive overs from Frome captain Andy Rogers (2-85).
The momentum was hardly allowed to slacken, however, as Andy Johnson (85 not out), Sam Bendall (24) and Stuart Griffiths (28 not out) continued to score freely, with the unbroken fifth-wicket stand between Johnson and Griffiths worth 111 when the innings closed.
In reply, Frome made a poor start against a lively opening burst from Jim Cotterell (2-24) and Scott Harris (2-18). Spinner Stuart Griffiths then took over, returning 4-31 as the visitors were dismissed for 99.
Only Marcus Wrinch (25), Rogers (19) and Stuart Davies, whose 12 spanned four balls - six, four, two, out - made it into double-figures for the visitors.
At Wellington, newcomer Ian Coplans fully exploited a pitch of uneven bounce with the fine figures of 6-11 as the home side shot out Wormelow for 64 to record a 40-run win.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Wellington reached 62-2 with Sanjay Hadapi (38) going well.
The young Wormelow attack then got to work with James Cutler (2-21), Steve Wild (2-9) and Andrew Weston (2-3) picking up wickets as the home side were dismissed for 104.
Wormelow's response began in disastrous fashion as the first three wickets went down for three runs to skipper James Williams (2-9) and Steve Faithful (1-22).
Tim Boulter (17) and Ollie Powell (10) tried hard to turn things around but the introduction of Coplans into the home attack precipitated another flurry of wickets and, of the remaining batsmen, only Derek Porter (10) reached double-figures.
