BARTESTREE & Lugwardine skipper Peter Hinkley played a major role in ensuring his side maintained their position at the head of Flint & Cook Marches League Division 2 with a win in the top-of-the-table clash with previously unbeaten Woolhope.

Hinkley continued his recent good form with the bat, scoring 102 out of his side's 219-7 and then picked up 2-13 to help to dismiss the visitors for 137.

Kevin Howells (76) and Dave Barrington (57 not out) were also in good form as Leominster compiled 246-6 against Builth Wells.

Richard Marsh (3-22) then turned in a tidy spell to restrict the visitors to 110-8.

Shobdon newcomer Gus Coonan cracked 70 on his debut as the villagers romped home by 74 runs against Hereford City, despite 53 from Nick Osborne.

Dan MacDonald, with 47 and 4-42, played a leading role as Monmouth 2nd won by 70 runs at Marden, for whom Peter Gale made 52.

Des Parry cracked 85 as Talgarth 2nd inflicted a first defeat of the season on Division 3 leaders Kington 4th while a fluent unbeaten 60 from John Prime ensured that Wormelow 2nd returned to winning ways with a six-wicket win over Garnons 2nd.

Andy Bishop was a century-maker for the second successive week, following up his unbeaten 142 against Garnons 2nd with 102 as Colwall 3rd beat Moccas by 78 runs.

David Taylor also posted his second century of the season for Bosbury in Division 4 with his unbeaten 131 playing a leading role in the villagers' massive 306-6 against Canon Frome 2nd and helping to bring about a 175-run win.

One of the day's best finishes also came in Division 4 where M Cadwallader (18 not out) cracked a six from the game's penultimate ball to ensure Leominster 2nd's victory over Burghill & Tillington 2nd.

Former Herefordshire all-rounder Steve Watkins, with 46 and 2-8, was a central figure in Herefordians' 24-run win over Ewyas Harold in Division 5 where Martin Skirrow's 60 spearheaded Strollers' 94-run success against Almeley.

Steve Cardone (57) and Mark Cathcart (47) batted Lads Club into a winning position against Hay and their efforts were backed up with the ball by Chris Price (4-11) and Ashley Oliver (4-18) who ensured a 134-run win.

An unbroken last-wicket stand of 94 by John Hall (45 not out) and James Bourdon-Pierre (40 not out) helped to put Kington 4th in a winning position against Bishops Frome in Division 6. The pair then took two wickets apiece to cement the victory.

Shane Bradley hammered the top score of the day when he sent Shire Bulls fielders scurrying to all corners of the Weobley ground in Division 7. His 182 was instrumental in a 277-run success for the villagers.
