HEREFORDSHIRE under-14 have begun their season with two fine victories against Welsh opposition.
An excellent all-round performance by Josh Emery led the county side to a 10-wicket success against Pembrokeshire.
Emery (4-10), well backed up by S Beale (2-18) and James Barazetti-Scott (2-11), dismissed the west Wales county for just 95. He then showed his talent with the bat, compiling an unbeaten 57 as, in partnership with Danny Barling (23 not out), he guided Herefordshire home.
Barling was also in good form as Herefordshire defeated neighbours Gwent by four wickets, reaching their 172 run target with two of their allotted 45 overs remaining.
Opener Barling (60 not out) received good support from Seb Warwick (32) and Rhys Davies (27) as Herefordshire chased their target. Davies (2-39) and Barazetti-Scott (2-15) had earlier lent their backing to Joe Fisher (3-26) as Gwent were bowled out for 171.
