COLIN Bennion won his first individual trophy in style at Ross-on-Wye when he finished first in the annual Traders Cup.
Bennion, who had recently achieved a hole in one, scored a nett 67 which left him three shots clear of five rivals - Kevin French, Herbie Jones, Jim Wilkinson, Jamie Wilde and Andy Crispe.
There were also five players on the best gross score of 78 with French and Wilde being joined by Tony Green, James Morgan and Tony How-ells.
However, it was an 80 from Alex Catchpole, to combine with his excellent Spring Scratch round, which will earn him the Mike Lane Trophy.
The Ross C team suffered two successive defeats - by 4-1 at South Herefordshire and 5-1 at Burghill Valley, while Ross Seniors won 5-2 at Monmouth.
n Rob Gunthorpe and his guest Jamie Morris won the Leominster Men's Invitation by just one point in a close finish which required countbacks from third place to 12th.

n The county-based Zak Dingle Society are organising an open charity competition in aid of the children's ward at Hereford County Hospital and St Michael's Hospice at The Grove on Saturday, June 18, with places for 120 players.
