TOP conservationist David Bellamy has named Poston Mill Park in the Golden Valley, as one of the UK's most environmentally-friendly holiday parks.
The efforts of park owners Wayne and Sarah Jones have won them a 'Gold' David Bellamy Conservation Award, described as the 'Green Olympics' for holiday parks.
Professor Bellamy said he was 'absolutely amazed' when he discovered how much was being done by holiday parks to protect and enhance the environment.
Poston Mill's award was made following a detailed audit of the park's environmental policies, supported by comments made by holidaymakers.
The park is a member of the British Holiday & Home Parks Association, the industry's official body, which is assisting Professor Bellamy with the conservation awards project.
As well as the David Bellamy Award, the park has been named as one of Practical Caravans Top 100 Parks for the 2004 Season.
This is the second year in succession the park has received this award. An unknown 'Mystery Shopper' who stayed during the 2003 season issued the award.
Poston Mill was also awarded Five Stars for the 2003 Season by the English Tourism Council Awards for the seventh year running.
