Presteigne 5 Llanfyllin 2
AFTER a goalless first half, Presteigne cruised to a comfortable win to complete a Spar Mid Wales League back-to-back double over their opponents - and they meet again this weekend in the League Cup.
Playing against the wind in the first half, Prestiegne were well in control, but could not put away their chances. The visitors nearly took the lead when a wind-assisted goal-kick beat the Presteigne defence, but Brian Kirkham was on hand to make a good save.
The first goal came on 55 minutes and then it was an own-goal that put the home side in front. Llanfyllin then managed to score at the right end to tie the score. Tom Ammonds restored the lead when he converted a Willie Lindsay cross.
There was no looking back as Chris Jones first slotted an Anthony Robbins cross past the keeper, followed this with a header from a Robbie Gore corner, and finally completed his hat-trick when his innocuous 25-yard shot somehow slipped past the keeper. There was just time for the visitors to net a late consolation goal.
