AFTER Herefordshire went down 1-0 to Gloucestershire in the West of England County Championships at Cheltenham, they bounced back an hour later to beat Somerset 4-2 with Karen Hackley netting all their goals.
Herefordshire made a hesitant start against Gloucestershire before gradually putting their game together. They were unlucky not to have claimed at least a draw but were pipped by a penalty flick.
They made a much more positive approach in the opening stages of the Somerset match and within 10 minutes Hackley put them in front. Somerset fought back to draw level but there was no stopping Hackley and, aided by good team work, she went on to complete her hat-trick and make it 3-1 at half-time.
In the second period Hereford-shire continued to play well as a unit but could not prevent Somerset from reducing arrears. Once Hackley had netted her fourth goal, however, the game was beyond Somerset's reach.
Herefordshire will continue their Championship fixtures after Easter when they go to Bournemouth to play Devon, Dorset, Cornwall and the Channel Islands.
