DEVELOPMENT PLAN - A public meeting is to be called over plans for a leisure development in Harley Dingle, near New Radnor. This will give members of the public the opportunity to quiz representatives of Radnor Range Ltd, which has just brought 1,100 acres in the valley. The public meeting on a date to be announced will be held in New Radnor.
STILL THRIVING - Although they wish to retire, Phil and Christine Gould say that their shop in Broad Street, New Radnor is not closing. It is still a thriving business they stress.
WIND TURBINES - Little progress is being made on the application for three huge turbines on Pentre Tump, Llanfihangel nant Melan. The matter was not moving forward at present, shire planning chief Steve Packer told New Radnor community councillors.
YOUNG FARMERS - YFC members contributed £334 to New Radnor's First Responder scheme and nine people have volunteered for defibrillator training, community councillors have been informed.
BYWAY DAMAGE - A beautiful part of the Radnor Forest was being scared by off-road vehicles, New Radnor community councillors heard. Mr N W Dodman said one byway was used regularly by parties of up to 20 vehicles, groups of motorcycles and an increasing number of tourists. Another suffered increasing damage from 4x4 vehicles and motorbikes, he told the council and Powys highways department. Mr Dodman, who lives at The Warren, thought there should be a site meeting to examine the problems.
