KEVIN Davies and Tristan Dodd proved two hot to handle when they carded no less than eight birdies in winning the Belmont Winter League final, beating Barry Norton and Chris Tulatz four and three.
Norton and Tulatz never gave up but could not match the birdie barrage served up by their in-form opponents.
The Mail on Sunday team advanced into the second round of the national knockout with a 2-1 win at Cadmore Lodge.
Steve Hughes and Andy Smith won their games and Ben Lloyd notched the important half to secure victory.

n Nigel Morris and Tony Leney pipped Brendan O'Brien and Adam Davies on a card countback to win Leominster's March better-ball stableford when both pairs posted 72 points, one more than Mark Lane and Richard Maloney in third place.
Leominster ladies also made it into the third round of the Mail on Sunday national knockout with an excellent 3-1 win at Arscott.

n Peter Farrington completed a remarkable treble when he won his third consecutive tournament at Ross-on-Wye.
He joined colleagues Brian Webb and Bill Castle to win senior team stableford with 76 points, a point clear of runners-up David Whitehead, Tim Bayley and Cliff Price.
