A PAIR of agile superheroes were on hand in case their skills were needed when four Cathedral School choristers took a leap of faith and abseiled from Hereford Cathedral's central tower last Friday.
Spiderman Mike Moffatt, who runs the school's Combined Cadet Force, joined the boys in their descent while Batman Alex Campbell watched.
A small crowd gathered on the ground as the four boys (and Spiderman) abseiled down the Cathedral to raise funds for the Hereford Muheza Link Society and Cathedral Perpetual Trust.
It was believed to be the first time the feat had been attempted and it is likely to be the last for the foreseeable future, as three years of restoration work is scheduled to start soon on three of the four turrets and tower and transept roofs.
The daring descent has raised more than £2,500 for the choristers' two chosen charities.
Congratulating the boys on an impressive feat, Glyn Morgan, of Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust, said: "From start to finish, they made it happen."
