Nikki Segust carried off her first ever Hereford-shire Senior County Table Tennis Champion-ship ladies' singles title at the expense of her mother, Susan.
It was Susan's first appearance in the final but she had to give best to her daughter who cruised home 6, 2 and 9 at Whitecross School.
In the semi-finals Nikki was taken to four sets before she knocked out Lin Ashman minus 7, 8, 6 and 4. Susan had an unusual five set last four battle with Margaret Shock. She scored 11 points in every game, usually enough to win, but Shock claimed the first and third sets 13-11.
Sharon Powell had a good day, collecting three titles.
In the mixed doubles Powell partnered Andy Castle to retain their title with an 8, 10, and 11 victory over Toby Eckley and Nikki Segust.
The champions had a tough battle in the semi-finals before eliminating Mark Owen and Lin Ashman, Sharon's sister, 11-5, 18-16, 13-11. Eckley and Segust won their semi-final against Stephen Farr and Margaret Shock in straight sets.
Later Sharon joined forces with Lin Ashman in the final of ladies doubles and they retained their crown by beating Susan and Nikki Segust .
Powell's other success came in the grade B final in which she defeated Josh Price. It was one of four finals for Price, two of which he won.
He was victorious in the cadet singles, defeating Shaun Chambers minus 9, 9, 10 and 6, but went down to his older brother Greg in the junior boys final. Greg won 5,5 and 12.
Greg and Josh then combined to carry off the junior boys doubles. Nick Wilson and Shaun Chambers put up a valiant fight against their more experienced opponents but the Prices prevailed 11-9, 9-11, 11-3, 7-11, 11-6.
Greg Price made a good effort to capture the singles title, which excluded the top 10 county players but he was beaten by Nigel Foreshaw. Price took the first game to 6 and only just lost the second 12-4, but Foreshaw won the last two by seven points .
Foreshaw was on court again in the restricted open singles final but went down to Chris Martin 6, 4 and 9.
Martin, in only his second championship, also captured the men's singles final when he beat the reigning champion Toby Eckley by 6, 9 and 16. In the semi-finals Martin gained a convincing win over Bob Trimble, while Eckley had a closer match against Paul Coleman before winning 8, 4, minus 8, and 7.
In the men's doubles title holders Martin and Steve Brown were beaten 9, 3 and 10 by second seeds Andy Castle and Mark Owen.
Trimble and Dave Hamer met twice in the veterans events. Hamer won the super veterans final 5, 8 and 6, but Trimble turned the tables in the veterans final 10,9 and 9.
In the veterans doubles Hamer and Harry Jutle triumphed over Trimble and Trevor Davies 7, minus 10, minus 5, 5 and 8.
Trevor Davies carried off the restricted veterans title by defeating Stephen Farr 4, minus 2, 9 and 9.
