A representative from the Department of Work and Pensions gave us a talk on the new Pensions Credits scheme to Tupsley Townswomen's Guild. Although all processing is done in Walsall, local advice centres can be contacted for help in filling out forms, photocopying document and there is also a home-visiting service. Hereford, too, is the first county to set up a mobile office to go round outlying villages once a month. Dorothy Barber gave a vote of thanks. The competition for a 'red item' was won by Betty Parkes. The annual meeting was held on February 2. There was a good attendance and the voting, under the auspices of Doreen Morgan and Mavis Matthews ,from Whitecross ended with the following results: chairman Anita Davenport, vice chairman Doreen Foster. New Committee members were: Mary Perris, Irene Lloyd, Gwenda Lowry have another year to serve and Mary Collins and Susan Layton stay on as secretary and treasurer respectively. Antoinette Perrot presented the Federation report. It appears that the Federation of Hereford and Worcester Guilds may have to disband owing to the difficulty in finding people willing to serve on the committee. Volunteers for these posts are being sought.
