Hereford estate agent and Rotarian Paul Morris will be the first to have his blood pressure checked on Saturday morning when the Hereford Rotary Club caravan comes to High Town to offer free blood pressure checks.
Two nurses will be on duty from 10am to 4pm as part of the Hereford Rotary Stroke Awareness Day.
Only qualified professionals will check people's blood pressures and if there are any areas of concern they will be referred to their GP.
People with high blood pressure are seven times more likely to suffer from stroke illness. Last year, 130,000 people across the country had free blood pressure checks, with many advised to consult their GPs.
"Rotary is delighted to be associated with the Stroke Association in this initiative. It is a simple exercise which could prolong or even save lives," says Hereford Rotary Club President, Alan Tringham.
The Rotary Club Caravan will be in High Town from 10am to 4pm. For further details contact 01432 263471.
The event comes the morning after the club's charity dinner to be held at the Left Bank, Hereford, to raise money for a range of causes including the Acorns Children's Hospice appeal, which the President has made his charity of the year.
