A recent item about the forthcoming 60th anniversary of D-Day has prompted a call from the Herefordshire branch of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) to tell us about a major local event planned to mark the occasion.
The branch has scored a big success in securing the Central Band of the Royal Air Force to present a special D-Day anniversary concert in Hereford Cathedral on the evening of Wednesday, June 2.
A branch spokesman said this week: "We are really delighted about getting such a prestigious service band for a performance in such a magnificent setting. It will be a superb way to celebrate the 60th anniversary and serve as a tribute to all those who took part in such a significant event in history."
Tickets for the concert will be £10 and details of sales points will be publicised nearer the date.
