A SPECIAL musical treat is in store with the arrival of a Cambridge College choir.
St Mary's Church, Monmouth, is the venue for the performance by the Choir of Gonville and Caius College today (Thursday, March 25).
The concert, hosted St Briavels Music Society, will include a selection of anthems and motets by the Welsh composer Mansel Thomas and by the late John Sanders, a former Organ Scholar of the college, who was Organist Emeritus of Gloucester Cathedral until his death last December.
The Choir will have recorded a CD of music by John Sanders in Gloucester Cathedral in the week prior to the concert.
The other work will be the St Mark Passion by Charles Wood, the Choir's recording of which was given the top five-star rating in Classic CD magazine and also features in the Gramophone Good CD Guide.
Tickets are available from the Monmouth Music Box, 18 Church Street, Monmouth (Tel 01600 772040) and at the door, priced at £7 for the public, £5 for members and free for students.
