THE final report of a housing needs survey by Herefordshire Council says that around 140 new affordable homes will be needed to meet demand in Leominster in the next five years.
The survey, carried out in 2003, shows that people who are likely to need some form of subsidised housing prefer to rent from housing associations. Other "affordable" options given in the questionnaire were Shared Ownership, where a property is part-owned and part-rented, and Low Cost Purchase, where a property price can be discounted at below market price by legal agreement.
The report is available at Leominster Library and the town's Info Shop.
