KINGTON will go to Hawkstone Park on Sunday, March 21 with a good chance of carrying off the Shropshire and Herefordshire Hargrove Trophy for the first time in their history.
On Sunday the North Herefordshire club had to battle against difficult windy conditions, as well as overcome their Shropshire opponents to establish a 2-1 first leg advantage and also finish six holes to the good.
Matt Weaver and Ed Deasey were in fine form and played confident golf to finish four up, while team captain Darren Richards, partnered by Alan Williams, also triumphed with a four-hole advantage.
It looked even more promising for the home club when Stuart Franks and youngster Matt Davies were level pegging after the completion of 16 holes. But their low-handicapped father-and-son opponents eventually won by two holes to set-up what should be an enthralling second leg.
