Pegasus Juniors 0 Brackley 7
PEGASUS Juniors came up against high-riding Brackley in scintillating form and suffered one of their biggest defeats in the Cherry Red Record Hellenic League Premier Division.
Brackley started fairly quietly but progressed to produce strength, determination to win and clinical finishing.
They opened their account in the 17th minute through Lewis Craker who positioned at the back post, headed home a corner.
Seven minutes later a cross fell kindly for Kevin Slinn and he calmly shot past Scott Hodgetts for their second goal.
The best move of the game resulted in the third goal. A sweeping midfield move found Darren Beckett wide on the right and he centred for Andy Baird to score with a thumping header. Hodgetts then did well to block Baird's fierce six-yard shot but Slinn had a simple task in putting the loose ball in the net.
Just before half-time Pegasus came close to reducing the arrears. Lewis Jones and Mike Symonds created an opening for Gavin Stone, whose shot was turned for a corner by keeper Matt Finlay.
After the changeover Baird notched his second with a simple tap-in, Slinn completed his hat-trick with a fine solo goal, while substitute Simon Dunlop rounded off the scoring.
Despite the scoreline, Pegasus, with four under-18s in their side, played reasonably well against a much more experienced and stronger side.
